Today we’re thrilled to officially welcome a new member of the Shareaholic family – Christopher Gillett, our Chief Technology Officer.
Christopher brings to Shareaholic more than 25 years of experience architecting and developing complex, high performance software, with an interest in big data, analytics, natural language processing, parallel and distributed computing, and real-time processing. He has also been a proponent and early adopter of “big data technology” such as grid computing, Hadoop (having built one of the first peta-scale Hadoop installations) and alternative data warehousing (“No SQL”) technologies.
A veteran in the Boston startup community, he has helped to launch 4 successful startups over the past 12 years that have returned several hundred million dollars (so far) to investors. He has served as Chief Data Architect at Swoop, early team at Vertica Systems (acquired by HP), Chief Software Architect at Visible Measures and Chief Software Architect at Compete (acquired by TNS/WPP).
Christopher and I worked together at Compete. When he left in 2006 to join the early team at Vertica, I told myself then that we just had to work together again. That time is now and I can’t be more excited!
Since the beginning, at Shareaholic, it was clear that it is not just about the size of your data, it is how well you can get at it and extract timely, actionable meaning from it. As Shareaholic has grown to scale, powering more than 250,000 sites reaching over 350 million unique visitors each month, this is more apparent as ever. I can’t think of anyone better than Christopher to lead the charge.
So we welcome Christopher to Shareaholic with admiration and gratitude. We’re delighted to have him as part of the team.
p.s. – we currently have several positions open across all areas of the business – from engineering to publisher development to operations. Check them out.
